A boy asks his father to borrow the car. The father tells him he can go back and forth to his friend’s house—which was just a few blocks away, but no further. He did not jot down or notice the mileage. When the boy returned, how did the dad know that the boy had driven to the next town and back?

Becaus he took longer than usual
Nope, that’s not it, keep guessing.
seems quite simple, The fuel gauge.
Nope! It’s not the fuel gauge. It’s a little trickier than that.
Keep guessing.
Because his friend lived in the next town, which was “just a few blocks away”…?
That’s a great guess, Mini! But incorrect.
Keep trying.
if not the fuel guage, mileage, or time then it could be how much dirt/bugs are on the cars exterior.
i would say that how hot the engine should not mater because some people sit in the car for long periods of time so its not a reasonable answer.
Nope, that’s not it. Keep trying.
Hint: Think about the last time you took a long drive, from one city to another. What is one thing that you would have to do?
The boy refilled the gas tank?
Nope, it has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. Keep trying.
The boy would have to had stopped somewhere?
No, keep trying.
The boy didn’t put his seat belt on so when he was driving he got stopped by the police
Outstanding guess, but not what we’re looking for.
Keep trying.
Ugh! The only other answer i can think of is that he put a camera in the car!
No, that’s not it.
HINT: What changes when you drive from one city to another???
The radio station?
YES! Great job Eva.
When the father got in to the car, the boy’s CD was in the stereo. When the dad ejected it, the radio was tuned to a station that was not available locally.
You are today’s winner.
YES!!!!!!
