Max found a man dead in a phone booth in a pool of blood. The glass on either end of the phone booth is broken and the phone is hanging. Just outside of the phone booth is a bucket and a stick.

The man was a fisherman. As he told the one he was talking to how big his latest catch was, he automatically gestured it. With that, he broke the glass on either side and cut himself. He bled out in the phone booth leaving him in a pool of blood.
Maybe Max tripped over the pail while entering the phone booth. He crashed through the glass brakeing both sides and knocking the phone off.
Someone had cut their wrists in the booth and started to bleed out. A witness seen, called an ambulance, which came and took the person away. A custodian came to clean up, but slipped in the blood, flailed about as he fell breaking the glass and knocking the phone off. He died when his skull cracked on the ground.

The man was a fisherman and was telling somebody on the phone about the large fish he caught. When he used his hands to gesture how big the fish was he hit the glass breaking it and cutting himself.
