  17 cows and 26 crows is correct Anant.

  A little algebra will help. If we call cows S and Crows C, then:
  S + C = 43 [1]
  4S + 2C = 120 [2]

  By [1] C = 43 – S, using this in [2]:

  4S + 2 x (43 – S) = 120
  4S + 86 – 2S = 120
  2S = 34
  S = 17
  Therefore C = 26
