A grandfather has a broken grandfather clock that is off by a minute every hour (too fast). He figures out a way, while keeping it running at the same rate, to make the clock say the correct time twice a day.

If only he can make it run backwards!
He can replace the face of the clock with a backwards dial.
This is similar spirit to Anant’s suggestion, and also takes the riddle’s picture into account.
Every half hour, he opens the pendulum case and stops the pendulum for 1/2 minute (watching the second hand on his watch). He then starts the pendulum again.
I wouldn’t think it would be a satisfying way to spend the day, but if that’s what he wants…so be it.
He can stop winding it..or unplug it. When it is stopped…the clock will be right twice a day.

But wouldn’t sending it in the other direction actually result in it telling the correct time 4 or 5 times a day?
