A horse is tied to a 20 foot long rope. The horse wants to get some water that is 30 feet away. The horse gets the water easily.

But just incase the rope is tied to a stake – the stake is l0 feet from the water and the horse is 20 feet from the stake, i.e. 30 feet from the water.
The horse is ten feet from the post to which he is tied; the water is opposite the horse, 20 feet from the post.
The other end of the rope is not tied to anything…….
