The road, you always go “down the road”.
If you are at the north pole every direction you turn would be south. Or down
You are choosing the filling of your winter jacket.
An airplane of final decent/landing. It may be landing in which ever direction the runway is in, but it will always be going down.
When driving, no matter what directio you are going, one thing that is always going down is the amount of gas in your tank.
Also, the amount of time left in your jouney, but I prefer “amount gas” or your gas meter. Of if your driving an electric car, your remaining battery power.
