  1. There were three of them, so they each had one egg. Let’s call them all “Frank”:

There is Frank junior, the youngest of them.
Then there is Frank – his father.

We now have one son and one father.

The third is Frank senior, the father to Frank.

Now we have two sons – Frank Junior and Frank and two fathers Frank and Frank senior.

  2. Andy, you are today’s winner!
One of the ‘fathers’ is also a grandfather. Therefore the other father is both a son and a father to the grandson. In other words, the one father is both a son and a father.

  3. One man eats breakfast with his two sons (one of whom also happens to be a father himself).
