Two Girls

Two girls are born of the same parents, but not at the same time, in Boston. One of them, however, is a citizen of the United States and the other is not. How could this be? And one did not give up her citizenship.

  • Chris

They were born before there was an America and one must have went back to Britain before America won the war keeping her from being a citizen.

  • Dude

Kind of on the right track, but remember both girls were born in Boston.

    Keep trying.

  • Paul

The oldest was born to a foreign born couple in Boston on work visas. The couple became US citizens prior to having their second daughter, making her a citizen at birth.

  • Dude

Wrong! Even if the couple was foreign-born, the child would still be a citizen if born here. Great guess, though.

    Keep trying.

  • Rool

Sadly, one of them was born dead :(

  • Rool

Or, maybe one did not give up her citizenship and the other did (for a million reasons I can’t think of…)

  • Dude

These are really outstanding guesses, but alas … none correct.

Keep trying, I promise the answer is worth it.

  • CCHS

One daughter was born before 1776, in Boston, before the United States was a country. The other daughter was born after, when it was a country.

  • Dude

You’re right CCHS. One daughter was born before 1776, in Boston, before the United States was a country. The other daughter was born after, when it was a country.

    You’re today’s winner!
