The measure of angle y is equal to sixty.
It can be proven by putting into use the vertical angles theorem – that vertical angles are congruent.
The other two angles of the top triangle, therefore, and 40° and 80°, along with y°.
From there, it’s just a simple matter of 180 – 40 – 80 = y, because all exterior of a triangle will add up to 180°.
It’s funny, actually – we’re learning about this in math class.
